Precautions and Potential side effects of cupping 

Cupping side effects are relatively minimal during suction cup therapy, but lightheadedness and dizziness could occur during treatment, as well as sweating or nausea. If wet cupping was performed there also may be some slight pain at the site of the cuts that were made during the cupping therapy as well as slight bruising.

Pregnant or menstruating women should not have cupping done as well as patients that have lost a lot of blood prior to treatment.

Patients with hemophilia and other blood disorders should not have cupping done.

Mentally ill patients should be accompanied for treatments.

Old weak or dehydrated patients should not have cupping done.

Prior to cupping therapy the patient should avoid:

Eating or drinking 3 hours prior 

Bathing or showering 3 hours prior 

Exercising and or any other extreme psychical action

Sexual intercourse 5 hours prior
